We scoured the internet, interviewed faculty, friends, and family members to figure out anything we could about storytelling. Our analysis of how people interact with storytelling revealed insights that were obvious, yet powerful.

1. We imagine better when we are given real context (edited)
2. Though fully capable of evaluating negative outcomes, people are very adverse to embodying those scenarios
We found that people tend to lose sight of themselves and consequently lose sight of their long term goals and aspirations. This lays the tracks for an unintended future.
How might we view ourselves more accurately, and plan our futures more intentionally?
To start we generated a framework for exploring our life. We inadequately defined life as a sum of events and their associated sentiments. Then we introduced hypotheticals as a means of stimulating active reflection about the present and future.
What came forth was Ghostwriter—a personal narrative engine and decision making tool for imagining a better future for ourselves. I worked on motion design and system design.
